Day 1 - SF

First day in San Francisco, CA.

Vertigo Search

Part of our trip was to be an excursion to San Juan Bautista while we were in San Francisco. We are both HUGE Hitchcock fans and so we wanted to see this movie site. We found it was only a couple miles out of our way and stopped by on the way. It was a great detour for photos with its own grave yard (not like the sad ones in Mesa but with real crypts and grave stones and everything) and many mission related features that just photograph so well. From a movie buff stand point it was a bit of a disappointment though which made us happy we had done it on our own and NOT paid for a guided tour. Apparently the bell tour that features in the movie was a prop added by Hitchcock.

Still though, all in all, it was a beautiful place and worth stopping for.

Going To California With...

...Hattie of course. Bet you thought I was starting into the Zeppelin song! Some shots from the start of our trip earlier this month in Santa Monica at the pier and in Santa Barbara.

Haight Ashbury

Hippies, Guitars and Graffitti

One of the parts of San Francisco that Hattie and I enjoyed the most was hanging out on Haight Ashbury. It's like an amped up version of Tempe's Mill district and if you know your history, well, need I say more? If not google it. We walked the same streets as Joplin, Dylan and Hendrix amongst other beat poets and artists. Shopped in vintage stores, ate at Burger Urge, skipped Ben and Jerry's but saw the original location and just enjoyed some very relaxed window shopping. It was only a couple miles from our hotel which was fortuitous. In the evening of going shopping Hattie even got a little nuts and started singing and dancing. She Hattie the Hippie. Check the shots.
