Some Final Shots From Seattle

It's hard to believe that I have put so much up since the Seattle trip just three months ago. It's been a very busy year and I'm looking forward to the exciting year to come. These were some additional urban shots from the streets of Seattle. The city is such an amazing place. Not just Seattle but cities in general. There's a vibe about city scape that just doesn't exist in nature shots. Cities seem to be about the details, while nature shots seem to be about the epic. Maybe the reason that I love both is that I believe each of us has that within us which is both detailed minutiae and the general epic.

The underground shots on this post are from Seattle's underground city tour. It was a very interesting, funny, beautiful and enlightening tour. It does get a bit racy. But I still highly recommend it. I think my pop was embarrassed a bit because he set it up. I loved it! I do wish I had my tripod. But, Oh well.

Some Great Shots With New Watermark

These are some shots that I particularly like with the new watermark.

Two Months Back

Here are a few of our oldest and our youngest. Hattie saw a neighbor throwing out an amazing huge pumpkin and asked if we could have it. Our little guy was dressed in a Tigger outfit. The stars aligned and the picture was created. Our oldest boy has also been channeling mannequins lately. The shot of him is real yet surreal. Oh also I learned how to create brushes and made one out of the logo that I am going to use for the site and my business. Coming soon... Thank you to Hattie and Allison for saying I needed to make this change. I admit it looks better. Although I still like Garamond Regular 72pt because it's on the cover of The Joshua Tree...but I was wrong.

Merry Christmas

To all the friends out there who have been so supportive over the years of our family I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas. I have a feeling that great things are to come in the next year. Hard times compel us to great things. We love you all.

More Christmas Time

I heard a great program on NPR yesterday. It was talking about the scientific proofs that are being sought after for God. A young man who was an Atheist and from Israel called in and talked about how his friends were Mormon and how he felt a prompting to go to the Temple in Boston and about the transformative experience that he had there and how it caused him to believe and become a member of the LDS faith. These types of conversion stories are always so inspiring to me. Belief is such a personal and hard thing to wrap ones mind around.

I've had a few Atheist friends and I get it. Sometimes I really struggle with doubt and believing. But I've felt my saviours love for me. And I choose to believe that he does exists and loves us. Loves me.

Here's to hoping that whatever belief we have, be it in Christ, Allah, Buddah or whatever it may be, we can be sincere and love those around us and strive for goodness. If God is looking down on us, as I believe He is, I'm sure that is what He really wants from His children.

Christmas Time Is Here Again

There is a great song by The Beatles called Christmas Time Is Here Again. It has Christmas greetings from each of the lads at the end of the song. It's very cool and encapsulates the joy that I feel around Christmas. I asked our oldest this year what he knew about Santa. He knew a fair amount. Some of it was even new to me. I then asked him what he knew about Jesus and am happy to say he knew just as much. Apparently secularism hasn't driven Christ out of the holiday for our family. That being said I have been taking some really great home front pictures of the family. Here are the first of the series.

More San Xavier Color

Here are the remainder of the color shots from San Xavier. I love shooting old things even when I do portraits I'm going for a look that seems to have a history to it. Not fresh and new and modern but old and classic and modern. Something that's been dragged through the dirt and has come up smiling and not afraid to admit it's been through the ringer. That's not to say that I won't take pictures of new things but I'm attracted to things with depth and layers.
